In Crescent City, a little Coastal Town on the rugged Northern California Coast, a small Auxiliary Flotilla with about forty members has met the challenge and achieved Operational Excellence. Flotilla 08-11 operates Coast Guard vessel 254851. The 851 is fully equipped with all the latest electronics, Radar, GPS, and VHF Radios. Learning how to operate the equipment was a challenge, but that didn’t deter Flotilla 08-11. They have achieved what no other Auxiliary Flotilla has done, they have shown the country that Yes We Can. Many challenges have been thrust in front of them, from basic training in stormy weather to a 24-7 search and rescue schedule and they continue to prevail. |
